80's Metal Essential Links

ENCYCLOPEDIA METALLIUM - Remember when the BNR Metal site used to be the resource for bands? This site has eclipsed it greatly! There are over 3000 bands listed here, with complete discography, album covers, essential links (like the ones to the RealAudio files we offer) and so much more! Many of the rare 80's metal bands are listed here along with member names, and much more info! THE best metal resource on the net!

THE METALPAGE - Pretty self explanatory, this is where I first met Sascha Glaeser and got started getting many insanely rare and out of print 80's metal! They do cover some later 90's era material, but most of the album cover artwork and album info you will find here. It's also a place where I added some reviews of my own, and there's even a cheesy "true metal" pic of me on the site! A European site, of course.

THE CORROSEUM - Another site devoted ENTIRELY to rare and out of print material, all run by one guy who I have done trading with on a regular basis. He has high resolution pictures of the front and back of these album covers, and of course links to my audio pages and other related band info. EVERY album featured ALSO features a very in depth review by our main man Dan Edman.

ARC'S NWOBHM SITE - Thanks to Mathias from Sweden of all places, this site is ENTIRELY devoted to the era of metal known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Whenever you listen to bands like Arc, Triarchy, Oxym, Geddes Axe, Crucifixion, Charger, China Doll and the like on my site, well, now you know the man responsible for bringing us these gems! Album covers are included, unfortunately though no complete song listings... There's also live shots from the Keep It True festivals of the past.

METAL VINYL REVIEW - I wish I could get in touch with this guy! He has album covers, though very small, of some extremely rare and unknown vinyl titles from the 80's, some that have NEVER showed up on ANY OTHER SITE anywhere in the world! Based out of Japan, this is the TRUE ultimate rarity resource for 80's vinyl... There's also listings of the record label and year of release for many of these...

Radio Stations & Online Music

WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta - A very important site for Vibrations of Doom Magazine, this is the local radio station where I live, and there have been lots of cooperation between us and the station. If you don't live in Atlanta, you can still listen to the ENTIRE show via the archived web site, they keep the most current show online for one week. 10 PM - 2 AM on Friday nights. The station also hosts a variety of other shows, like Industrial, a psychedelic hour and what not, this web site is only for the metal show WREKage.

Band Sites

Tank fan site - A pretty good fan site dedicated to the U.K. NWOBHM band Tank. This guy is in touch with a few members of the band, so check out what all he has to offer.

Sacrifice Official Website - THE official website devoted to killer Canadian thrashers Sacrifice. There's still a bit more stuff that needs to be added, and it's now been updated properly...

The Razor Pages - GREAT site devoted to one of Canada's premier death metal acts still going! Album covers, lyrics, the whole nine yards! GREAT site!

Samain Home Page *UPDATED* - One of the coolest 80's metal bands, their one and only release "Vibrations of Doom" was firmly etched onto my record player for quite a while! An inspirational band, their album cover and songs will soon be in the classic albums section. For now, take a look at some concert shots and read a little while you wait for the interview!

Music Magazines & Databases

Ruuth's Inn *NEW!* - Cool up and coming thrash metal site with album reviews, cool links (like ours of course), a photo gallery complete with flyers and some MP3 files as well!

Real Synthetic Audio - THIS is the most awesome electronic site I have ever come across! THIS site features full length RealVideos from very cool industrial bands like Skinny Puppy, Evil's Toy, Rammstein, Die Krupps, KMFDM and more! Yes, these are full length videos you can watch online! And that's not all, there's also a radio show, a webcam and much more! If you like industrial you HAVE to check this site out!

The Womb *UPDATED* - South Beach, Florida's awesome web site devoted to electronic music. Live audio AND video plus a radio station, links to bands and labels, and SO much more! Featured genres include ambient, trance, techno, house and more. NOW there's a virtual 3d club setting, where you can interact with people online, and listen to club music in a club atmosphere!

Tombstone Zine - GREAT music magazine out of Greece

Artifact Metal Zine *UPDATED* - good site with nice graphics!

Tracks of Creation *UPDATED* - Longtime running zine they gave us a great review! They are now defunct, of course, but their stuff is still online.

Record Labels and Shops

Underdogma Records - GREAT record shop and possibly label that caters to the stoner/doom metal/pychedelic trippings we all crave from time to time! Very well done layout and sound clips, plus you can order these great discs online! Well worth checking into! The Obsessed, Roadsaw, Orange Goblin, Sixty Watt Shamen, Roachpowder, Archie Bunker and so many more are fully represented.

Noise Records *UPDATED* - How could you NOT remember Noise? Responsible for Gamma Ray, Kamelot, WASP and more.

Full Moon Productions - A diabolical source for death and black metal merchandise! NOT for the weak of heart, their newest releases include Acheron's "Those Who Have Risen" and a Tribute To Hell comp. spanning 2 CD's!

Karmageddon Media *UPDATED* - Hammerheart Records is no more. All the bands are now on Karmageddon Media, which is a treat to see a label that has a pretty impressive roster for an indie. Bands like Hearse, Dismember, Primordial, Necrophobic and Thyrfing call this label home.

Black Mark Records - This label was originally put together as an outlet for reissuing the Bathory albums that were hard to get, and now home to a lot of great, innovative bands like Cemetary, Morgana Lefay, Soulquake System, Edge Of Sanity and more!

COP International - So THIS is where Pain Station drifted off to! A rather dedicated industrial label, been around for a long time and has been home to Diatribe, Battery, Sonar and more!

Metropolis Records - GREAT U.S. label devoted to bringing us the best industral acts from around the globe! Home to :Wumpscut:, Haujobb, X Marks The Pedwalk and more!

Century Media Records - home to Stuck Mojo, Tiamat, Grave, Samael and more, THIS site has lots of info and even scanned pictures of all their album covers!!

Metal Blade Records *UPDATED* - well, they kinda started the craze releasing Slayer's first album, and now home to Skrew, Gwar, Cannibal Corpse and more.

Meteor City - A record store and label featuring a new genre of metal they call desert/doom metal!

Visual Vinyl - A U.K. based company specializing in rare and out of print vinyl and CD's, plus a host of other rock and metal related memorabilia! Last time I checked, I found records by Razor, Onslaught, Exciter and more, so it's worth checking into!

Other Fun Sites

Homestar Runner Homepage *UPDATED!* - "EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY!" Man is this site FUNNY! It features two little cartoon characters named Strongbad and Homestar, and this site will have you spending hundreds of hours looking through all the well designed Flash coding! For you metalheads, check out the email letters Strongbad reads on the site, especially the email titled 'guitar' from a fan. Way too much stuff to do!

*UPDATE:* Wanna see the funniest (and most true) cartoon about Death Metal? The Homestar Runner page has a strong bad email about it: Strong Bad Email #141

Gumby's World - This is a VERY cool site where you can actually WATCH Gumby clips right on their own built in TV! I'm a BIG Gumby fan and thought you might enjoy this claymation classic! These clips go back as far as 1957!

Arcade At Home - Ever since Dave's Videogame site died, I have been using this one. There's much more offered here, if you ever grew up as a kid playing those quarter operated videogames, THIS is the place to go to get the emulators and the necessary "filez" to play these games. They also have daily videogaming news, and also links to Intellivision, Atari 2600, Colecovision, Nintendo, Super Nintendo and other console games and have recently added emulators to play the pocket game and watch videogames! Much to see and do here, this is the most updated emulation site I know of.
